You would have a chance to salvage it and a chance to lose it. Damned if I know the percentages, though.

- if you used a normal salvage kit you'd loose the rune
- if you used a Expert or Superior Salvage kit you'd have a chance of salvaging the rune.. you don't have a 100% chance of getting the rune. You might get the rune or you might get crafting items.
- You have 100% chance of getting runes from monster armor drops
- Superior salvage kit is the exact same as Expert, just has more uses.

Expert and Superior function exactly the same.

Only difference is, that Expert comes in pack of 25 'better salvages', and Superior comes in pack of 100 'better salvages'. ['better' compared to the standard kit, that is.]

Superior kits are just for player's convenience, since you don't have to buy new kit as often/carry multiple kits.

I salvaged my armour after getting Droks for my Elementalist last night and had the following result.

5 pieces of armour returned 4 runes and 1 pile of ingots.

After upgrading my warrior armour I got 3 from 5.

I think it's just pot luck but probably 75-80% chance based on my experience.

I'm more of an optimist, in this situation at least.

I'd go with an 85% chance to get your rune back.

Ladies and gentlemen; place your bets.

I'd say about 80%. It seems like any time I upgrade armor, I seem to lose one rune per five peices.

I'll bet 5gp on that. Call or raise?

My experience is in line with the 75-80% success rate...but with the luck I have, the 20-25% failure rate always takes care of the most expensive rune.

Goodbye, superior absorption...hello, iron ingots.

EDIT: As far as salvaging mob drops for runes, I have a 100% success rate.

Don't think so. From my experience, you have about an 85-90% chance of getting the rune from Monster Salvages. I've had a few times where I just got materials. It doesn't happen often, granted, but it does happen.

That used to be the case. Anet fixed that quite some months back to yield a 100% rune extraction chance. Perhaps you share the problem I have of accidentally using a regular salvage kit on occasion.

Default 100 percent not likely

I for one can guarantee that u do not have 100 percent chance to salvage a superior rune from your armour. Went to upgrade to 15k glads on my warrior tried to salvage my sup absorb out of my old droks platemail. Lucky me got 8 iron ingots and before u say oh you might have bought a normal salvage and used that NO I have never bought a normal salvage so 100 percent not likely be afraid, If you are salvaging your sup absorb this could happen to you.

griswald38: Kamatsu is saying that there is a 100% of getting the rune from a Monster Armor Drop... not from salvaging your own armor (as everyone else has suggested, has somewhere between 75-85% chance).

Dont think they fixed it right then, cause ive got iron from stuff before and not the rune! Last time it happened was about 2 weeks ago. I know i was using expert, because it was the only one i had at the time. Its more like 99.9% chance
